Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not grow up at a time when there was true concern for the people.
The tax rate in the 1960s for those single filers earning over Two hundred thousand ($200,000.00), the equivalent of more than One Million ($1,000,000.00) Dollars i was very high. It was around 91%. That is why we did not have income inequality to the extent it exists now. The rich were taxed at a higher rate and there was not a wide disparity of incomes.
Soon to be Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez did not grow up when she could see the best of capitalism. People could own their own shops, have independence and make a fine living for their families.
We did not have billionaires like Jamie Dimon seeking money from the United States Government because his bank was failing because he cheated millions of people. Meanwhile, our government still allows banks to take the homes of people rather than bailing them out.
There was corruption, no doubt. However, its different and more blatant now. Corruption is the norm and it is no longer hidden.
By way of example, the opponent of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, Congressman and former Democratic Party Boss Joe Crowley did not blatantly allow Judges, like Judge Darrell Gavrin to pay for their seat and then appoint his sisters as Court Clerks in Queens.
Judge Darrell Gavrin and her JHO Stanley Gartenstein regularly denied child care expenses to mothers where the father worked for a union that supported the Democratic Party. Support Magistrate Aletha Fields denied reimbursements to mothers of college expenses.
The people of Queens, and I am sure the rest of the United States, are sick of the blatant corruption and it is no wonder.
The idea of socialism may be great, but it does not work. Lets go back to a party for the people where capitalism is fair to all, and those like Jamie Dimon are not allowed to cheat the public out of millions of dollars where he/Jamie Dimon and his bank were allowed to rebuild his bank using the funds of tax payers, and then use unscrupulous tactics, like telling those involved in recovery of property to tell the police that the vulnerable person is armed with a gun or taking property illegally from Veterans.
